    Commitment, Consistency, Patience

    Picture
It takes all three to be successful.  I mean, if you really want to make a change and improve your performance in your chosen activities as well as in the workplace and at home and play it helps to have a goal.  And then be committed to doing whatever it takes to get there.  With this being said, just knowing what you want isn't enough.  Once you know where you're going, you then have to be honest with yourself and know where you are.  It's like using Google Maps.  You have to know your origin and destination, only then can I help you plot a course to get there.

Once you have your directions (training program design) you have to be consistent.  You HAVE TO DO THE WORK!  I tell my athletes time and time again: I can give you the tools but you have to use them.  I don't have the time to do it for you.  I have my own workout to do and then I have to coach others to do the same.  You're going to need to buckle down and do what it takes each and every day to move toward your fitness goals.  Every decision you make will lead you to an action and each one of those actions will either move you closer or further from your goals.  You have to consistently take actions that move you toward your goals.

Now, be patient.  If you're committed and you remain consistent, results will take time.  How you feel, look and perform right now is a result of all that you have done up to this point.  You couldn't be anyone other than who you are right now, impossible.  It took your entire lifetime so far to get to where you are today and it didn't happen overnight.  Getting the results you seek will also take time so be patient.

    One More Thought

Training with me (or without) in the gym is merely a supplement.  If you want to be a better runner, then you will have to run.  The best way to become a better climber?  Climb.  To improve your swimming, you must swim.  I think we ought to use the gym to help us prevent injury and improve our performance for our chosen activity.  Even if you just want to be fit and healthy, it helps to embrace all encompasses a fit and healthy lifestyle and then put it all into practice.
